Porcelain Foundation

The re-invention of East Asian porcelain and founding of the first European porcelain manufactory in 1710 were massive feats on the European stage by Saxony that are still harvesting acclaim and interest the world over today. The Manufactory is upholding this great cultural heritage by guiding it into the future. The federal state of Saxony has now likewise committed itself to its cultural heritage by establishing the Meissen Porzellan-Stiftung GmbH company (MPS - the Meissen Porcelain Foundation) as a wholly-owned subsidiary.

The company has been remitted to purchase, manage, preserve, exhibit and research cultural assets held by Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen GmbH (SPM - Meissen State Porcelain Manufactory) that are so essential to Saxony’s heritage of porcelain production. MPS acquired SPM’s historical collection in its entirety upon being set up (concluded year-end 2017). Some 33,000 porcelains were involved.
